L&Q is one of the UK’s leading housing charities and developers. Our roots date back nearly 60 years, and we've been shaping some of the most exciting, diverse and dynamic regions in the country ever since.
Our vision is that everyone has a quality home they can afford. We believe that homes matter to everyone – our mission is to combine our social purpose and commercial drive to create homes and neighbourhoods residents can be proud of.
As a regulated charitable housing association, all the money we make is reinvested into new and existing homes, creating successful communities and providing services for our residents. This makes us one of the UK’s most successful independent social businesses.
Everything we do begins with social purpose. Our roots go back to the ‘new wave’ of housing associations created in the 1960s, born out of a growing social consciousness around housing and homelessness. Today the L&Q Group houses around 250,000 people in more than 100,000 homes, primarily across London and the South East and we are delivering our ambition to provide thousands of new homes every year.
We are looking to recruit an innovative, talented and ambitious individual to lead and inspire L&Q. This is a fascinating and unique opportunity in a sector that is experiencing substantial challenge and change but which retains a strong social purpose, especially so during these unprecedented times.
Our new Group Chief Executive will help us to seize the opportunities that exist for ambitious and mission-driven organisations like us. You will work with the L&Q Board, local authorities, government and other major stakeholders to ensure that we continue to be recognised as delivering excellence for our people and our communities.
You will bring excellent leadership skills and a solid track record of working in large and complex organisations. You will be commercial in mindset but a champion for social value, have a willingness to support innovation and a passion for developing people. L&Q is a strong and successful organisation; one that works collaboratively and draws upon a range of strengths and skills to deliver its vision. As our CEO, you will be an excellent communicator and have an enthusiasm to get things done and move the agenda forward. You will be driven, highly professional, have an understanding and appreciation of the diverse customers we support and work with, both now and in the future. You will also understand the regulatory landscape in which we operate. Our CEO needs to be politically sensitive and totally aligned with our values. In return we offer the opportunity to join a fantastic organisation with a highly committed board and colleague group. As CEO of L&Q, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the social housing sector and the communities we serve.
We also want our executive team to reflect the communities we serve. We value diversity in all its facets, including gender, disability, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation and identity. When it comes to finding talent for L&Q, we have decided to address gender and ethnicity first. As such, we are committed to offering an interview to at least one BAME and one female candidate for all senior leadership positions if they fulfil the role criteria.
If you would like to know more about this exceptional opportunity to join one of the largest and most dynamic social housing providers in the UK, then please contact our advisors Rosie Gunn on 0207 426 3998, Tim Hills on 0113 205 6085 or Simon Wing on 0207 426 3976.
Applications must be received by Wednesday 18 November 5pm 2020
